Trust and Transparency
Clear limits, private writing, useful practice feedback.
BandUp is built for Australian families who want frequent writing practice without pretending AI feedback is an official result. The product should be useful, explainable, and careful with student writing.

AI Scoring
- BandUp gives practice estimates, not official NAPLAN or scholarship results.
- Every NAPLAN essay is scored against the 10-criterion, 48-mark writing rubric.
- Scholarship essays use a separate 5-criterion, 25-mark framework.
- Scores are shown with criterion-level reasoning so families can see what to practise next.
Child Privacy
- Accounts are parent-owned. Children are profiles under a parent account.
- Essay text is not sent to analytics or Sentry error monitoring.
- Sentry session replay masks text, and server/client events scrub essay content.
- BandUp stores application data in Supabase infrastructure configured for the Australian region.
Learning Design
- Skill Quests turn rubric weaknesses into one focused writing goal at a time.
- Mini-lessons give the student a teaching point, example move, and short drill before writing.
- Revision keeps the previous essay linked so improvement can be compared against the original.
- Tutor views are read-only and are designed for partner coaching, not account control.
BandUp is a practice and feedback tool. Official NAPLAN results are administered through schools and ACARA, and scholarship selection decisions are made by schools or exam providers.
